Pet Peace of Mind

Do you have a pet you love? For hospice patients nearing the end of their life, a family pet often provides unconditional love, acceptance, comfort and companionship at a time when it’s needed most.

We want to help our patients with anything that will provide them comfort and we are partnering with Pet Peace of Mind, a groundbreaking national program, enabling hospice patients to keep their pets at home throughout their end of life journey.

The program works with hospice partners to provide pet food, veterinary care, pet boarding, walking and more at no cost to patients.  Pet Peace of Mind volunteers are specifically trained to provide pet care assistance when the patient needs help caring for a pet.  Our clinicians will also work with families to make sure there is a plan for placement of their pet, if needed.

So how can you help? If you are interested in supporting Bluegrass Hospice Care’s Pet Peace of Mind program, we would love to hear from you.  Opportunities for support include:

  • Volunteering for the program
  • Offering financial support
  • Providing pet services (veterinarians, groomers, etc.) in any part of our service area.
  • Serving in the program committee.
